About Us:
About Our Organization
Like the home page stated, we are still in the beginning stages of development, and it is our goal to become more active in the cycling community. With the assistance of other local organizations, we will be hosting charitable rides to generate money for the children's books. We will also have a presence within the mountain bike race sector. In addition to the cycling community, we will attempt to establish a presence within the Nashville area. After the initial costs of the development of the organization are covered, it is our goal to give 100% of the donations directly to purchasing and distributing books to children in need. Education is not an entity only found within the four walls of a school building. You can go anywhere, see anything, and experience everything within the pages of a book. I hope to give the children experiences that will change their lives forever.
Our philosophy can be summed up in one non-English word, ithuteng.
Ithuteng = forever learning
Who is behind this?
My name is Mathew Portell. I am an English language development teacher at Amqui Elementary School in Madison, TN. I am also an avid cyclist with a passion for not only riding, but the children that I interact with on a daily basis. Once I identified the need for books in the homes of the students in my school, I realized I needed to do something. This is my solution to the unfortunate situation.
